Challenges Encountered and Leadership Styles of Public Elementary School Teachers on the Preparation of Face-To-Face Learning
Abstract
COVID-19 has engrained effect in every area of our lives, including the education sector in our country. Which increase the gaps and create disruption in the educational sector globally? After over two years of pandemic, in most countries’ schools are open despite the threat of coronavirus disease.
Schools from around the world are reopening to hold face to face classes. Philippines is one of the countries that will 100% implement the face to face classes in the academic year 2022-2023. (DepEd, 2022) The Department of Education release a DepEd order no. 34 issued by the Vice President and Education Secretary Sarah Duterte Carpio, the school year 2022-2023 shall formally open on Monday, August 22, 2022, and end on July 7, 2023, under the blended learning system and will transition to full face to face classes in November.
Reopening of schools in a manner that is safe and responsive to the needs of the learners and teachers. Schools will need to implement measures to maximize the safety of their staff and children attending. (Ziauddeen, 2020)
According to former Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, as more schools open their doors for physical learning the department is currently crafting a learning recovery program as part of post pandemic efforts. “We have to ensure that our interventions are effective so that everyone can catch up and accelerate their learning.”
Enable to meet the learning interventions and professional development, health, safety, and wellness it requires remarkable preparation in preparing schools for the reopening of physical learning that leads to new challenges to the school heads and teachers.
